Things to Do

Okay so, you’re now basking in the calm balmy breeze of the Mediterranean from your hotel porch with a day of nothing to do.  But when you’re in Marbella, a day won’t be enough to savor even half of what the city offers.

Go stroll its sandy beaches or historic buildings in the old town plaza’s cobbled streets,  do some light shopping or enjoy a culinary extravaganza for lunch and dinners, then hop on to a town fiesta or festival with your Canon digicam with lots of memory storage.

  • Shopping

If you’re in a city known to be frequented by the rich and famous, Marbella is not the place to be for shopaholics.  Here is where the rich can get poorer, just slightly though.  But it will be a real challenge to control yourself if you’re the typical tourist who just saved up for a week long vacation on a Mediterranean coat.  But not to worry, a €1,000 shopping purse can get you plenty to brag about when you get home. Converting that to the local Peso still won’t buy you a Gucci or a Bally but there all sorts of bargain basement shops for clothes and souvenirs

  • Hit the warm waters

There are at least six jaw-dropping beaches, not so much for the bevy of near naked bodies cavorting or just sprawled on their white sands, but the inviting waters are just too much to resist for a short relaxing swim or a stroll.  Check out the Platja de Barceloneta and the Platja de San Sebastia two of the more popular beaches as they are closes to downtown Barcelona.

  • Events and Festivities

As everyone knows Barcelona is home to one of the Europe’s best football team, the FC Barcelona or El Barca and if you happen to be there during its football season, get yourself into one of the bars presenting the games in high definition flat screens and be among the cheering locals while imbibing some beer.

As a Catholic country, one of its traditions include commemorating the crucifixion and death of the Christ and if you get the chance to join the commemoration, there’s the Drama of the Semana Santa unfolding and culminating in the joyous Easter parades.

  • Indulge your Gastronomic Fancies

End the day with fine dining in any of Barcelona’s fine gourmet restaurants or simply drive your way to a disco pub or nightclub for a wild party. Just make sure you’re car hire is chauffeured so you won’t have entanglements with Spanish law enforcers who are quite strict arresting drunk drivers. GP
